Ah, a new year.
There is just something about a new year.
A freshness, a new hope, a great time for reflection.
I’ve been a little absent from this blog, but I plan to change that this year.
While video is at the top of my passion list, I love to connect with you all in writing as well, and so I will do more of that.
I’ve seen how some people choose a word for the year, sort of a mantra.
So because I’m not one for New Year’s resolutions, this I can do.
My word or words I should say for the year are: Creative Community.
Creating to me is life. Out of creativity more creativity is birthed. And when creativity ceases, I can see the cobwebs of that art beginning to form in my mind which creates an agitated and less happy and fulfilled version of myself. So I know 2018 will be filled with more creativity than last year. That is my life’s work, my life’s mission. Whether one person is listening or many are, I will still be here, year after year.
The second word is community. This goes against the very grain of my being. There’s nothing more fulfilling to me that being holed up in my house, cozy on the couch, spending time with my family or engulfed in my creativity. But I also know that some of the most creative moments in my life have been through collaboration with friends who are infinitely more talented than me. So there will be more of that. And more of just laughing, eating, drinking, and spending quality time with the people I love. Despite having to force my introverted self out the door, when I do get out, it feeds my soul. I know I am meant to be in community, so I need to push myself in that area.
So I guess that’s it. Cheers to a new year!
What about you? What’s your word or words?
