Top 3 Pregnancy Fashion Tips

Ahhh maternity clothes.

Possibly the only time in life when shopping isn’t fun!

Nothing is flattering, and you’re constantly growing, so what’s a girl to do?

I’ve been a black-wearing fool from way back.  I can’t help it.  If you were to attend one of my family functions, you would see that it’s in my genes.  You’d find a room filled with loud women clad in all black, and perfect Ruby Woo pouts.  Don’t believe me?  Check this throwback to my wedding:

I didn’t ask for everyone to come in black, this is just how we roll, haha.

But for real, I think black is always the perfect staple, and especially great when it comes to pregnancy.  One, it’s “slimming”.  Now I know this may seem like an oxymoron, because there’s no slimmin’ a giant bump, but even if you’re the only that feels slim, then I think it’s a win!  It got so old hearing how big I was, so if I can do anything to avoid that, count me in!

Secondly, and I think equally as important is how versatile black is.  Towards the end of my pregnancy, it started getting really old wearing the same things over and over AND over again.  BUT, for some reason, my black outfits always felt best.  They held up really well to the frequent washing they had to endure AND getting dressed was cake.  You can mix and match black tops with skirts and slacks, and add variety to a plain LBD with any number of jewelry items that are collecting dust in your jewelry box. Black is best in my book.

All of those cute vintage finds that have been hiding in your jewelry box are ready to be free, and now is the perfect time!  Honestly, I’m not a huge jewelry person.  I mean, I love sparkly things, and I love the IDEA of jewelry, but on an everyday basis, I’m usually just donning my wedding ring.  So I get you, if you’re not a “jewelry person”.  But humor me for a second, because accessorizing while pregnant can be the perfect pick-me-up you’re craving.  Because if you’re like me, you will not want to spend a crazy amount on clothes that won’t fit you within a year’s time! Grab some jewelry staples and you’re good to go.  Here are some of my favorites:

I love this Rebel Pendant from Stella & Dot.  I bought a necklace similar to this one years ago, and it has held up so well.  It goes with everything, and I get so many compliments on it.

I love these simple studs from Stella & Dot.  I have sensitive ears, so I usually don’t wear over-sized earrings.  These are the perfect size, at the perfect price for this cute trio.

Again, I’m all about that simple life.  I love statement necklaces, but don’t want to feel weighed down by them.  This cute necklace from Bauble Bar adds the perfect amount of sparkle, in a perfectly sized package.

Girrrrl you look good!  I know you don’t feel like it, and that “glow” that everyone talks about is probably sweat from how hot you are, but nevertheless.  You are beautiful.  Tell yourself until you believe it.  Your body is amazing.  YOU are amazing.  You’re growing a tiny human, isn’t that mind blowing?!  What a privilege this is, so don’t take it for granted.  Whatever you choose to wear, know that YOU make the outfit.  So stand tall, belly and all.

Until next time…all the love,
